Best Bars In South Bend: Our Favorite Places To Grab A Drink

Going out for drinks is one of my favorite ways to spend quality time with my family, catch up with old friends, and meet new friends. Luckily for me, the bars in South Bend are great for a wide range of occasions from upscale craft cocktails to late-night dives.

Here are some of my top recommendations for anyone looking for a great night out on the town in South Bend.

LASALLE MINI BAR

Mini-Bar is one of the best date-night bars in town. It’s located inside Lasalle Kitchen, in the back corner near the back alley entrance. It’s a small intimate bar that is cozy, well-lit, and the bartenders are always very friendly and personable. They will make just about anything you can think of and you get to take advantage of the delicious Lasalle Kitchen menu.

Fiddler's Hearth

For a full-blown Irish pub experience, no one in town does it better than Fiddler’s. It’s the perfect spot to stop in for a pint of Guinness or a Jamison neat and meet new friends while enjoying live Irish music on most nights.

For whiskey lovers, look no further. The Exchange has an extensive menu of top-notch whiskey cocktails. The environment is comfortable and stately. It’s a great place for a business discussion or pre-dinner cocktails.

THE BUCKET

The Bucket has one of the coolest dining atmospheres in South Bend. It’s located right on the bank of the St. Joe river and has a huge deck overlooking the water. To make it even better, they have a tiki bar! There is also inside seating as well which is cozy for winter dining or to enjoy a little AC on the warmer days.

McCORMICK'S

Best Bars In South Bend: Our Favorite Places To Grab A Drink

We like to refer to McCormick’s as the party after the after party. It’s a really amazing venue with great history behind it. It may be labeled as more of a “dive bar”, but the service is friendly, prices are amazing, and you can play pool or darts while listening to music via Touch Tunes. It’s a great place for a casual night out filled with fun and drinks.

LKT

We already talked about how great the Lasalle Mini Bar is. However, if you go up to the third floor of the same building, you will find a different vibe altogether. Lasalle Kitchen & Tavern or LKT as we call it is a really vibrant and youthful bar with amazing service and bar food that won’t disappoint. They even have Trivia and live music throughout the week.

The Hammer & Quill is a great place for very well-made cocktails and craft beer. It’s one of our favorite bars to sit at because of the warm, feel-good atmosphere.

HIDEAWAY AT LaSALLE

Best Bars In South Bend: Our Favorite Places To Grab A Drink

Think Cheers, but in a speakeasy; that’s The Hideaway vibe. Located on the first floor of The LaSalle Apartments, next to the Morris Performing Arts Center, The Hideaway is an intimate, friendly spot to sip on a craft cocktail or local brew. Stop in and introduce yourself to the staff and be sure to try the creative drinks they’re mixing this month!

Hungry? The Hideaway serves light bar food, including a gourmet cheese plate, hummus plate, various paninis, and a rotating soup of the day.

Corby’s Irish Pub is a South Bend landmark pub for students, alumni, Notre Dame fans, locals, and tourists! It is also famously known for the bar scenes in the movie Rudy!

They offer a full bar, 16 beers on tap including domestics, imports, and a rotating selection of local and regional craft beers.

They also offer delicious hand made pizzas and another fare from our Pizza Kitchen.
We encourage you to stop in for a cold beer, a delicious pizza, and some local Notre Dame nostalgia!

MADISON OYSTER BAR

Best Bars In South Bend: Our Favorite Places To Grab A Drink

MOB is one of the more unique bars in South Bend. It’s a bit more on the dive bar end of the spectrum but the drinks are super affordable, they have pool & darts, and everything is spread out on three separate levels. It’s a great place to play games and drink long into the night.

SPIRITED

Best Bars In South Bend: Our Favorite Places To Grab A Drink

Spirited is one of the newest additions to the DTSB bar scene and after my first visit, I knew I’d be returning regularly. Their cozy lounge atmosphere is inviting and comfortable and the decor has a not-so-subtle witchy theme that makes your visit fun with a slightly spooky edge. It fits very well with their signature cocktails which can feature smoking glasses and vibrant colors. It’s a great place for an intimate date night cocktail or a friendly conversation.
